The Mission

The International Center Venlo supports internationals who have chosen to build their lives in the Netherlands but often struggle to find a sense of belonging and purpose in their new environment. We create opportunities for meaningful connections, personal growth, and professional development, helping people feel at home, actively participate in society, and contribute their talents to the local community and economy.

The Challenge

Many internationals arrive in the Netherlands with valuable skills, professional experience, and a strong desire to contribute. However, adapting to a new country involves much more than learning a language or understanding administrative processes. Many experience isolation, cultural disconnection, loss of professional identity, and uncertainty about how to rebuild their lives. Existing integration initiatives often focus on practical requirements while overlooking the emotional and social aspects of integration. As a result, many internationals struggle to feel at home, become disconnected from Dutch society, and are unable to fully realize their potential.

The solution

The International Center Venlo promotes a new integration model that places personal growth and belonging at the center of successful integration. While traditional programs primarily focus on language acquisition and practical adaptation, we believe that people are more likely to engage, learn, and contribute when they feel connected, understood, and at home in their new environment. Our approach is built on three interconnected pillars: personal growth, language development, and professional development. Personal growth serves as the foundation, helping internationals build confidence, resilience, self-awareness, and meaningful connections. From this foundation, participants become more motivated to develop language skills, expand local networks, pursue career opportunities, and actively participate in society. By addressing the human experience behind migration, we transform integration from a process of adaptation into a journey of belonging, growth, and contribution.
