The Mission

Contigo is a concept for a future specialized dietetic practice that will be launched after graduation, focusing on young adults between 18 and 30 years old who struggle with eating disorders. Many individuals in this group face long waiting lists or are not taken seriously because they do not meet strict criteria, such as BMI thresholds, which leads to delayed support and worsening symptoms. Contigo will offer low-threshold, personalized guidance without judgment based on weight or appearance. The focus will not only be on food, but also on behavior, thoughts and daily challenges around eating. The goal is to reduce disordered eating patterns such as restriction, binge eating and purging, while helping clients build structure, reduce mental burden and become more independent in their recovery.

The Challenge

Young adults with eating disorders often do not receive timely or appropriate support. Access to specialized mental health care is limited due to long waiting lists, while general dietetic care often lacks specific expertise in eating disorders. Additionally, many individuals are not taken seriously if they do not meet strict criteria such as a low BMI. This leads to delayed help-seeking and worsening of symptoms. Shame, uncertainty and lack of awareness further increase the barrier to seek help. As a result, a large group remains unsupported during a critical phase where early intervention could make a significant difference.

The solution

Contigo will provide accessible, specialized nutritional guidance tailored to young adults with eating disorders. Clients will be able to start without strict admission criteria and receive personalized support focused on real-life situations. The approach will combine evidence-based dietetics with practical coaching on behavior, thoughts and coping strategies. The focus will be on translating knowledge into daily action, helping clients reduce patterns such as restriction, binge eating and purging, and build sustainable habits. In addition, Contigo will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care when needed.
