The Mission

SOLID's mission is to transform every neighbourhood into a living network of mutual support — where anyone can get help with daily tasks and anyone can earn money by helping others nearby. We believe that in every city, on every street, there are people with idle time and useful skills living metres away from people who need exactly those skills right now. The problem is not willingness — it is infrastructure. People don't have a safe, fast and fair way to find each other. SOLID builds that infrastructure. By combining verified identities, secure escrow payments, real time location matching and a trust-based rating system, we make it possible for complete strangers to exchange favours confidently and safely. No agencies. No professional friction. No awkward cash exchanges. Just neighbours helping neighbours, fairly compensated. Our mission goes beyond convenience. We are building economic opportunity for people with underutilised time and skills — students, part time workers, recent arrivals, anyone who wants flexible casual income on their own terms. Simultaneously we are reducing the isolation experienced by elderly residents, international students and anyone who lacks an established local network to rely on. SOLID starts with the simplest human interaction — one person needs something, another person can help — and builds a city-wide ecosystem of trust, connection and mutual benefit from there. We are not building a task platform. We are building the social and economic connective tissue that modern urban neighbourhoods are missing.

The Challenge

Getting small things done in daily life is unnecessarily hard. You need someone to grab groceries, help move a couch, lend a bike pump or clean your room before guests arrive. Your options are limited — do it yourself when you have no time, ask a friend and feel guilty, or hire a professional which is expensive and slow. Meanwhile someone within 500 metres of you right now has idle time, relevant skills and genuine willingness to help — for a small tip. And you have no fast, safe or fair way to find each other. Existing solutions fail. WhatsApp groups are chaotic with no accountability. TaskRabbit is slow and professional feeling. Asking friends creates social debt. None combine hyper-local, instant, verified and fairly compensated. This gap hits hardest for international students far from home, elderly residents who need practical help, and anyone whose time is worth more than the task itself. SOLID solves this. Post what you need, set your price, and a verified neighbour accepts and does it. No negotiation, no awkwardness, no waiting. Two people within walking distance. One needs something done. One has the time to do it. SOLID connects them in seconds.

The solution

SOLID is a hyper-local favour marketplace that connects people who need small tasks done with verified neighbours who have the time and skills to do them — instantly, safely and fairly. The solution works in three steps. A requestor posts any favour they need done, describes it in their own words and sets the price they are willing to pay. Within their radius, verified SOLIDers receive an instant notification and race to accept first. Once accepted, a category-specific verification system guides both parties through the transaction — including geofenced photo capture, receipt submission, OTP completion codes and escrow payment release — ensuring accountability and trust at every step. What makes SOLID different from existing solutions is the combination of four things no competitor has together. First, an instant notification-first acceptance model where the first SOLIDer to accept wins the mission, creating urgency and speed. Second, open-ended favour posting where requestors describe anything they need rather than choosing from a limited catalogue. Third, proportionate verification that matches the trust requirement to the risk level of each favour category. Fourth, secure escrow payment that holds funds until completion, removing financial risk for both parties. SOLID is built on the insight that trust is not binary. Someone borrowing a basketball needs less verification than someone entering your home to clean it. Our system reflects this — applying light touch verification for low risk interactions and rigorous documentation for high trust scenarios involving home entry, valuable items or significant financial commitment. For SOLIDers SOLID creates genuinely flexible casual income. No contracts, no minimum hours, no agency fees. They list their available favours, set their minimum tip and travel radius, and earn money on their own terms with direct bank payouts. For requestors SOLID removes the awkwardness of asking friends for help repeatedly, the expense of professional services for small tasks and the frustration of unresponsive group chats. Any task, any time, someone nearby will do it. The platform currently operates in Maastricht, Netherlands, with expansion to additional Dutch cities planned following validation of the core model.
