The Mission
StudyScape's mission is to make high-quality, personalised education freely accessible to every student, regardless of background or budget. We believe the gap between students who can afford tutors, study coaches, and premium materials, and those who can't, is one of the most solvable inequalities in education. StudyScape closes that gap by turning any document into a complete learning environment: structured notes, flashcards with spaced repetition, quizzes, interactive concept diagrams, and a Pomodoro-based focus system. The learning methods are grounded in peer-reviewed cognitive science (retrieval practice, elaborative interrogation, interleaving), not marketing language. Our initial focus is university students, launching at Maastricht University first, with a long-term goal of making university-level education free for anyone with a browser.
The Challenge
Students are drowning in raw material ( lecture slides, textbooks, PDFs) with no time and no budget for the tutoring or coaching that would help them turn that material into real understanding. Passive re-reading (the default study method for most students) produces roughly 40% recall vs 61% for active retrieval practice, yet almost no tool automates the active study layer on top of the student's own documents. Existing AI tools (ChatGPT, NotebookLM) give you a chat interface but not a structured, progressive study environment. The student still has to do the pedagogical design themselves.
The solution
StudyScape is an AI-powered study platform: upload any PDF or paste any text, and within minutes you get a complete, interactive study suite ,structured notes, SM-2 spaced-repetition flashcards, mixed-format quizzes, interactive concept diagrams, and a guided Pomodoro session. Every piece of generated content is grounded in the student's own source material (no hallucination policy, all outputs carry citations back to the original document). The platform is built around the techniques with the strongest evidence base: retrieval practice, interleaving, elaborative interrogation, and the Feynman method. Free tier supports 3 suites; paid tier (€7.99/month) is unlimited. We are targeting 500 users and 30 paying subscribers at Maastricht University before any ad spend.
