The Mission
UniMeals is a weekly meal-kit subscription built specifically for students and young professionals who train, lift, or actively track macros but can’t justify the time or planning it takes to cook balanced meals every day. Instead of generic recipe boxes (like HelloFresh), every UniMeals recipe is designed around clear protein/carb/fat targets, delivered pre-portioned with easy-to-follow instructions, so members can hit their nutrition goals in under 20–30 minutes of prep. We start by sourcing fresh ingredients locally (Albert Heijn), with a roadmap toward wholesalers and local producer partnerships as we scale, keeping the model affordable, transparent, and realistic for a student budget. Our goal is to become the default way fitness-conscious students in Maastricht eat well without becoming part-time cooks.
The Challenge
Time-poor students and young professionals who care about fitness and nutrition face a daily trade-off: cook a macro-appropriate meal (which takes time and planning they don’t have between lectures, gym sessions, and part-time work), or fall back on fast food, dining-hall options, or ad-hoc grocery runs that don’t reliably support their macro or fitness goals. Existing meal-kit services like HelloFresh solve the ‘no time to cook’ problem but are not designed around macro tracking or fitness outcomes, leaving this segment underserved — they either sacrifice their nutrition goals or spend disproportionate time and mental energy managing their diet themselves.
The solution
A flexible, pausable weekly subscription delivering pre-portioned ingredients and recipes explicitly built around macro targets (protein/carb/fat), rather than generic ‘healthy’ recipes. Members get the convenience of a meal kit with the precision a fitness-focused eater actually needs, at a transparent per-box price, with easy-cancel/pause options so the service fits irregular student schedules rather than locking people into rigid commitments.
