The Mission
Our mission is to explore new ways of helping autistic individuals communicate their thoughts, feelings, needs, and ideas, especially when traditional forms of communication do not fully meet their needs. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to express themselves and be understood. By exploring the potential of data science, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies, we aim to investigate how we can bridge the gap between what a person thinks and what they are able to communicate to the outside world. Our ambition is to bring together people from different backgrounds to develop innovative, inclusive, and person-centred solutions that support individual autonomy and make communication more accessible. Ultimately, we want to contribute to a world in which differences in communication are better understood and everyone has more opportunities to make their voice heard.
The Challenge
Some autistic individuals experience significant barriers when communicating their thoughts, feelings, or needs. Existing communication methods may not work equally well for everyone. This concept aims to explore whether emerging technologies and data science could open up new ways for individuals to express themselves, while respecting their autonomy and individual communication preferences.
The solution
The concept explores the possibility of developing a technology-assisted communication system that could help autistic individuals express their thoughts, needs, and intentions in ways that work for them. The first step is to bring together a multidisciplinary team to research existing technologies, understand the needs of autistic individuals, and identify a realistic and ethical starting point. By combining lived experiences with expertise in technology, neuroscience, and product development, the goal is to transform an ambitious idea into a practical concept that could help people communicate more independently and effectively.
