The Mission
Quorum’s mission is to make academic survey recruitment faster, fairer, and more accessible for students and researchers. Many people conducting research struggle to find enough respondents, which delays projects and reduces the quality of academic work. Quorum addresses this by creating a collaborative platform where users complete surveys for others, earn credits, and use those credits to promote their own surveys to relevant participants. The goal is to reduce the frustration and inefficiency of participant recruitment while encouraging a more supportive academic community. Rather than leaving each student or researcher to find respondents alone, Quorum creates a structured exchange system that rewards participation and increases visibility for active research projects. In this way, the platform supports research progress, improves access to participants, and helps valuable academic work reach completion more efficiently.
The Challenge
Students and researchers often face significant difficulties when trying to recruit participants for surveys. Finding enough respondents is time-consuming, unreliable, and often depends on personal networks, social media posts, or repeated requests in group chats. This creates an unequal system where some researchers can access participants more easily than others, while many important projects struggle to collect sufficient responses. As a result, research is delayed, students experience stress, and academic work may suffer from small or unrepresentative sample sizes. There is currently a clear need for a more efficient, accessible, and community-driven way for students and researchers to reach willing survey participants.
The solution
Quorum is a digital platform that uses a credit-based exchange model to connect students and researchers who need survey responses. Users complete surveys posted by others and earn credits for their participation. They can then spend those credits to unlock the visibility of their own surveys within the platform. This creates a reciprocal system where participation directly contributes to better access to respondents. The platform acts as an intermediary for recruitment rather than replacing survey tools such as Qualtrics or Google Forms. By organizing demand and participation in one place, Quorum makes survey recruitment more efficient, transparent, and collaborative. The proposed solution is especially valuable for academic environments, where many users share the same challenge of finding reliable participants in a limited amount of time.
