The Mission
At Chorus Spatial, we believe that understanding our natural world requires absolute clarity, even in the most chaotic environments. While existing acoustic monitoring tools suffer from background noise, wind, and overlapping sounds, our mission is to provide researchers, ecologists, and conservationists with the ultimate auditory "telescope." By pioneering advanced, directional microphone arrays and real-time spatial processing, we empower field scientists to cut through the noise, capture pristine, isolated wildlife vocalizations, and accurately locate species in 3D space. We strive to make advanced acoustic triangulation and species identification accessible, durable, and effortless, transforming how we monitor and protect global biodiversity.
The Challenge
Ornithologists, ecologists, and conservationists rely heavily on bioacoustics to track species and monitor ecosystems, but natural habitats are incredibly noisy. Wind, rain, running water, human activity, and overlapping animal calls frequently degrade audio quality, leading to inaccurate AI identification and missed detections. Standard omnidirectional recorders cannot distinguish where a sound is coming from, while highly directional parabolic mics require a human operator to constantly aim them. Field researchers lack a rugged, autonomous, "set-and-forget" device capable of isolating individual sounds from specific directions, making accurate, long-term spatial monitoring nearly impossible.
The solution
Chorus Spatial is an autonomous, ruggedized field device featuring an array of multiple synchronized microphones, powered by intelligent, edge-computing algorithms. By utilizing real-time digital beamforming and spatial processing, the device isolates sounds based on their direction of arrival, effectively "pointing" a digital microphone at individual birds and wildlife while filtering out ambient noise. The array captures pristine, directional audio and uses on-board processing to identify species with unprecedented accuracy, while simultaneously logging the exact direction and estimated location of the animal. Weatherproof, lightweight, and easy to deploy, Chorus Spatial offers researchers the spatial accuracy of a highly trained team with the convenience of a passive, 24/7 autonomous sensor.
