Spelenderwijs Lab was built on a simple but powerful belief: learning should never feel like a burden. The company takes educational content that institutions already own but struggle to deliver effectively, and rebuilds it into dynamic, gamified learning journeys tailored to the specific needs of each audience. The Challenge
Modern learners across all age groups are increasingly disengaged from traditional educational methods. This problem is especially acute for three vulnerable groups: -Children are growing up in a digital-first world, yet most classroom tools have not kept pace with how they naturally engage and process information. -Seniors are often excluded from digital learning altogether, facing tools that are too complex, too fast, or simply not designed with their cognitive needs in mind. -Newcomers to the Netherlands face one of the most stressful learning challenges imaginable — absorbing a new language, culture, and civic system simultaneously — with limited engaging support available. Institutions such as schools, municipalities, and training centers recognize this gap but lack the expertise or resources to redesign their content in a way that truly engages these audiences. The result is wasted educational investment and poor learning outcomes.
The solution
Spelenderwijs Lab offers a fully digital, web-based platform that converts institutional educational content into customized gamified learning ecosystems. The solution works in three steps: First, existing institutional content is analyzed and restructured for a gamified format. Then, audience-specific learning journeys are designed story-based adventures for children, real-life Dutch street and office simulations for newcomers, and manageable micro-learning modules for seniors. Finally, the platform is delivered through custom-branded portals for each partner institution, complete with individual logins, checkpoint rewards, and data-driven progress tracking so institutions can monitor outcomes transparently. To reduce barriers to adoption, every new partner begins with a free pilot project, allowing institutions to validate the content for their specific audience before committing to a paid contract. Pricing is flexible, based on project duration and user count, making it accessible even for organizations with limited training budgets. The result is a scalable, low-overhead solution that turns underperforming educational content into measurable learning success for children, seniors, and newcomers alike.
