The Mission

Breakwater addresses a core friction point in consumer health: the daily supplement routine. Despite a global market of over €200 billion, supplementation today remains manual, inconsistent, and disconnected from the digital health tools consumers already use. We are developing a connected countertop device that automatically dispenses precisely dosed supplement mixes from refillable cartridges, controlled through a companion app. The system combines hardware, recurring consumable, and digital interface into one integrated experience. We are currently at the ideation stage, focused on validating core assumptions with early target users and developing a functional prototype. Longer-term, we see Breakwater as a platform for connected home nutrition.

The Challenge

The €200B+ global supplement market grows at 8–9% per year, yet the daily user experience has not meaningfully changed in decades. Consumers typically juggle 5–10 products, measure powders by hand, and rely on memory for timing and dosage. Research consistently shows that a large share of users take supplements irregularly and that adherence drops sharply within weeks. The result is weaker health outcomes, significant product waste, and a category entirely disconnected from wearables, apps and biomarker tracking. Existing alternatives — pill organizers, basic dispensers, subscription pouches — improve storage, not behavior. No integrated solution today combines precise dosing, effortless daily use, a recurring consumable model and a digital backbone.

The solution

Breakwater is a smart supplement system built on three components: 1) A connected countertop device that dispenses precisely measured mixes directly into the user's glass or bottle — designed to be as intuitive as a coffee machine. 2) Refillable, exchangeable cartridges that let users adapt their stack to individual goals (performance, recovery, sleep). This enables a recurring revenue model comparable to established consumable-driven categories. 3) A companion app as the control layer — managing stack, dosage and schedule today, with a clear path toward integration with wearables and health data. Our initial go-to-market targets fitness athletes, biohackers and performance-oriented consumers — segments with high willingness to pay and strong feedback loops for early product development. Breakwater is positioned not as another supplement brand, but as the system layer that makes existing supplements easier, more precise, and more consistently used.
