The Mission
BlackSwan's mission is to turn workplace safety and compliance training from a box-checking exercise into a genuinely effective learning experience that saves lives and protects businesses. Right now, companies spend millions on training that employees forget within 24 hours. Up to 73% of employees click through mandatory content without engaging. The result is certified teams on paper but unprotected workplaces in reality. In high-risk sectors like energy, critical infrastructure, pharma, and banking, this gap can cost lives and trigger severe regulatory liability. We are building an AI-supported training platform that makes safety knowledge actually stick. Employees train inside realistic digital replicas of their actual workplaces, accessible from any standard browser with no VR hardware needed. The AI adapts to each person's knowledge gaps, delivers focused sessions, and provides a 24/7 Virtual Safety Expert for on-demand support. For employers, we deliver provable competence: full audit trails & reporting that goes far beyond "completed: yes/no". Our platform scales across sites and languages from a single dashboard, is DSGVO-aligned with EU servers, and helps organizations reduce manual compliance planning through AI-driven predictive recommendations. We believe no company should have to choose between compliance on paper and safety in practice. Our mission is to make those two things one and the same.
The Challenge
The unmet need is that current workplace safety and compliance training is ineffective at ensuring employees actually retain and apply what they learn. Research shows approximately 67% of uncontextualized learning is forgotten within 24 hours, and up to 73% of employees skim or click through mandatory training content without truly engaging. Companies invest millions in compliance training, yet the outcome is often a dangerous illusion: teams that are technically certified on paper while workplaces remain unprotected in reality. This problem manifests in three key ways: The Forgetting Curve: Most learned content is gone before employees even return to their desks. Traditional slide-based training and multiple-choice tests simply do not create lasting knowledge retention. Click-Through Culture: Employees treat mandatory training as a checkbox exercise. They click through content without absorbing it because the format is passive, generic, and disconnected from their actual work environment. Compliance Does Not Equal Competence: A completion certificate does not mean anyone knows what to do in an emergency. When a real incident occurs in high-stakes sectors like energy, critical infrastructure, pharma, or banking, this gap between certification and real-world competence can cost lives, cause catastrophic damage, and expose companies to severe regulatory penalties. There is currently no widely adopted solution that combines adaptive, personalized AI-driven learning with immersive, workplace-realistic training scenarios, accessible without expensive hardware, and backed by audit-ready proof of actual employee competence. BlackSwan addresses this gap.
The solution
BlackSwan is an AI-supported safety training platform that combines adaptive learning with realistic digital replicas of real work environments, all accessible from any standard browser with no VR hardware required. The platform follows a five-phase learning system: it starts by diagnosing what each employee already knows, then delivers personalized instruction, immerses them in realistic workplace scenarios, consolidates knowledge for long-term retention, and tracks progression as competence grows. Employees also have access to a 24/7 Virtual Safety Expert, AI-powered avatars that provide immediate answers to safety, HR, or compliance questions. For employers, BlackSwan provides full audit trails covering major regulatory frameworks including ArbSchG, DGUV, MaRisk, BAIT, GxP, and NIS2, with reporting that goes far beyond simple completion status. The platform scales across multiple sites and languages from a single dashboard, is DSGVO-aligned with EU servers, and includes predictive compliance recommendations to help management reduce manual planning effort. In addition, BlackSwan is expanding its training catalog to include interactive modules for NIS2 cybersecurity compliance, EU AI Act literacy training, and ergonomics and workplace health, making complex regulatory and health topics accessible through the same immersive, adaptive learning experience.
