The Mission

The Hang aims to redefine how students experience social life by shifting from passive content consumption to active, real-world engagement. The platform connects students, creators, and local businesses through real-time events, spontaneous plans, and live offers. By centralizing discovery and enabling instant participation, The Hang creates a dynamic ecosystem where users can easily find what to do, businesses can activate demand in real time, and creators can build and monetize their social influence. Ultimately, the goal is to become the default platform for social planning and local engagement in university cities.

The Challenge

Students currently rely on fragmented channels such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and word-of-mouth to discover social plans, making the process inefficient and inconsistent. At the same time, local businesses lack accessible and cost-effective tools to promote events, attract customers in real time, and collaborate with other venues. This results in missed opportunities, including underutilized capacity in bars, gyms, and cafés, and a lack of infrastructure to stimulate spontaneous demand. Overall, there is a clear disconnect between social demand and local supply in real time.

The solution

The Hang is an event-first social platform where all content is directly linked to real-world experiences. Instead of traditional posts, users engage through events, live offers, and shared experiences happening in real time. The platform allows students to instantly discover and join activities, businesses to create and promote events with minimal effort, and creators to curate experiences and collaborate with brands. Additionally, The Hang facilitates partnerships between businesses, enabling cross-industry events and dynamic demand activation. By combining social interaction with real-time commerce, The Hang transforms how people discover, plan, and experience social life.
