The Mission
HARDRADA is a defence technology intelligence platform that gives defence organisations a clear, evidence-based picture of the global technology landscape. We collect and analyse data from patent filings, R&D trends, and commercial innovation to map which technologies exist, who is developing them, and how they relate to specific military capability needs. The system identifies what humans miss at scale: clusters of emerging technology, gaps in national R&D portfolios, commercially available solutions that could replace expensive bespoke development, and dual-use technologies with untapped defence applications. The goal is to change how defence procurement and modernisation decisions are made. Instead of relying on vendor pitches, political relationships, or outdated intelligence, decision-makers we enable a data-driven view of what is possible, what is affordable, and what their competitors are investing in. HARDRADA delivers three outcomes: - Lower costs by surfacing existing technologies that eliminate the need for redundant R&D programmes. - Faster modernisation by connecting current platforms to proven upgrade paths from both defence and commercial sectors. - Better strategic positioning by tracking which nations and companies are leading in critical technology areas before those advantages become operational realities on the battlefield. The platform is being built as a SaaS product for defence ministries, procurement agencies, prime contractors, and the consultancies that advise them.
The Challenge
Defence organisations waste billions annually on redundant R&D, slow procurement cycles, and uninformed technology adoption. Ministries and defence primes lack a data-driven view of the global technology landscape, leading to duplicated investment, missed innovations from adjacent sectors, overlooked dual-use potential, and delayed modernisation of existing platforms. Today, procurement decisions are based on lobbying rather than evidence. There is no purpose-built intelligence tool that connects defence capability gaps to the technologies that could fill them, across patents, R&D trends, and commercial innovation.
The solution
HARDRADA is a SaaS platform that turns fragmented technology data into structured defence intelligence. Technology Mapping. The platform classifies patent filings and R&D activity against a custom defence taxonomy covering autonomous systems, counter-UAS, electronic warfare, directed energy, cyber defence, hypersonics, and more. Millions of records become searchable, defence-relevant intelligence. Pattern Detection. Co-occurrence analysis and network mapping reveal which technologies are converging, which organisations are leading, and how the landscape has shifted over time. Users explore interactive graphs showing technology clusters, country-level comparisons, and emerging trends. Decision Support. The platform turns data into action. Compare national R&D portfolios. Identify commercial alternatives to expensive bespoke programmes. Flag dual-use technologies. Track competitor investment. This is a working tool for procurement officers, R&D directors, and strategy teams, not a static report. The platform starts with global patent data and expands into government contracts, academic research, and defence trade intelligence.
