The Mission
Our mission is to make student life more connected, spontaneous and accessible by helping students discover what is happening around them in real time. Many students want to go out, meet new people, join activities and explore their city, but information is often spread across WhatsApp groups, Instagram pages, posters, university channels and word of mouth. As a result, students often find out about events, deals or activities too late. Joinly brings this information into one real-time social map. Students can discover parties, sports activities, restaurants, cafés, student deals and local events nearby. The platform helps them understand where to go, what is active, who is joining and which opportunities are available before they miss out. In the long term, we want Joinly to become the main digital layer for student social life in university cities.
The Challenge
Students often struggle to know what is happening around them in real time. Information about parties, sports activities, restaurant deals, cafés, events and social opportunities is scattered across different channels such as WhatsApp groups, Instagram pages, Telegram chats, posters and word of mouth. This makes it difficult for students to decide where to go, what to do and who to join. Because of this fragmented information, many students discover opportunities too late or miss them completely. This is especially relevant for international students, first-year students and newcomers who may not yet have strong social networks in the city. At the same time, students are price-sensitive and often look for affordable ways to go out, eat, play sports and meet people. The unmet need is a simple, real-time and student-focused way to discover what is happening nearby before it is too late.
The solution
We are developing Joinly, a real-time social discovery platform designed for students and young people. The app shows what is happening nearby through a live social map and an easy-to-use discovery feed. Students can find parties, sports activities, restaurants, cafés, student deals, events and spontaneous plans in one place. The platform makes it easier for students to decide where to go, what to do and who to join. For example, users can discover a student deal at a restaurant, see an event happening nearby, or join a spontaneous sports activity such as a padel or football game. By combining local discovery, social coordination and affordable student opportunities, Joinly helps students reduce FOMO and make the most of their city life.
