Mission Short
We retrofit aging cargo vessels with predictive maintenance systems and fleet management software, enabling small shipping operators to reduce downtime and compete with industry giants
The Challenge
SME maritime operators face a critical competitiveness crisis. Their vessels, often 15-30 years old, lack modern telemetry systems, forcing reliance on scheduled maintenance that's either too frequent (wasting money) or too infrequent (risking catastrophic failures). Unplanned breakdowns cost $50,000-150,000 per day in lost revenue, yet they can't predict when components will fail. Simultaneously, they operate without integrated fleet management tools. Route planning, maintenance scheduling, crew coordination, and compliance tracking happen across spreadsheets, emails, and phone calls. Large operators use sophisticated ERP systems that cost $500,000+ to implement and require dedicated IT teams completely inaccessible to fleets operating 3-15 vessels. This creates a vicious cycle: higher operational costs reduce profit margins, limiting capital for modernization, which further widens the gap with well-funded competitors. Without intervention, SME operators will either consolidate into larger entities or exit the market entirely.
The solution
We provide a two-part solution: affordable retrofit hardware and a comprehensive SaaS platform Hardware Layer: Our modular IoT sensor kits install on critical ship systems (engines, generators, HVAC, ballast pumps) during routine port stops—no dry dock required. These sensors monitor vibration, temperature, pressure, and runtime data, transmitting via satellite or cellular connection to our cloud platform. Software Platform: Our cloud-based ERP delivers three core capabilities: Predictive Maintenance: Machine learning algorithms analyze sensor data against Kpler database of 50,000+ vessels to predict component failures 14-30 days in advance, enabling proactive repairs during scheduled port calls rather than emergency breakdowns at sea. Intelligent Route & Maintenance Optimization: The system recommends optimal routes considering weather, port congestion, fuel prices, AND upcoming maintenance windows minimizing deviation costs and maximizing vessel uptime (can be combined with marinetraffic software). Integrated Fleet Management: A unified dashboard for voyage planning, crew scheduling, compliance documentation, fuel tracking, and financial reporting—replacing fragmented spreadsheets with a single source of truth.
