The Mission

My project mission is to be able to clean beaches from the most possible amount of plastic, tackling not only sandy beaches but also rocky beaches that can't be cleaned by sifting systems. Using a portable design, that can effortless be brought where needed, and easily used by local communities.

The Challenge

Beaches all over the world are every day more polluted. There have already been a lot of efforts to clean our oceans, many systems have been developed recently to clean surface water, but none serious cleaning system for cleaning our beaches have ever been created. Sifting sand can't be a good solution, losing most of the micro plastic and being useless in rocky beaches.

The solution

My solution is a buoyancy system that uses a salted water solution to make the micro-plastics float so they can be easily collected. Requiring few electrical energy, and avoiding the usage of harmful substances for humans and the environment.
