The Mission

At DormDish, our mission is to empower dorm students to unlock their creativity and turn their home kitchens into hubs of opportunity. Whether it's a chef cooking a few meals to save up for a trip with friends or a student hoping to jumpstart their culinary career, DormDish is here to support every kind of goal. We believe that every dorm room holds potential; not just for nourishment, but for income, community, and self-expression. We aim to provide a seamless and accessible platform for students to cook and serve meals in a safe, hygienic, and enjoyable way. Our focus is not just on food, but on fun, connection, and shared experiences. By removing barriers like delivery costs and packaging, we keep the experience simple and affordable. Just good food, shared with good people. DormDish isn’t a restaurant. It’s not a catering service. It’s something new. A social movement that redefines student life, showing Maastricht, and soon all of the Netherlands, that eating together in dorms is the next big trend. We’re building more than meals. We’re building bonds. Friendships between chefs and customers. A community built on trust, taste, and mutual support. With every dish, we want students to feel not just full, but fulfilled. DormDish is where flavor meets freedom. Where your dorm becomes your stage. Where food is just the beginning.

The Challenge

Many students find themselves stuck in a daily food dilemma: 1. Repetitive, uninspired cooking. Most students end up making the same quick meals every day. With limited time, skills, and motivation, cooking becomes a chore rather than an experience, and the result is often bland, rushed food. 2. Expensive, unhealthy takeout. For those who don’t have the time or energy to cook, the fallback is delivery. But ordering food is costly. Students end up paying high delivery and service fees for meals that are often unhealthy, generic, and lack that home-cooked feel. In an ideal world, students crave variety, convenience, and affordability. They want tasty, home-style food that's nearby, low-cost, and made with care.

The solution

DormDish. We empower dorm students who love to cook by giving them a platform to showcase their skills, share their signature dishes, and earn money doing what they enjoy—all from the comfort of their own dorm kitchens. Whether a student wants to cook for fun, make some extra cash, or kickstart a culinary journey, DormDish offers the tools, training, and community to make it happen. How DormDish Works: -Chef Sign-Up & Verification Students apply to become chefs by signing up on the Chef Portal, submitting ID for verification. Everyone is welcome! From amateur cooks to aspiring professionals. -Chef Training Program (completely free!) Before serving meals, chefs complete a short but powerful training designed to meet HACCP and NVWA hygiene standards. The training includes: .Engaging articles on Kitchen Hygiene, Meat & Veggie Cooking, Waste Management, and more. .A quiz to test understanding. .A video kitchen inspection followed by an in-person check to ensure food safety and professionalism. This step prepares students to operate like true culinary pros—without the cost. -DishCraft: The Chef Portal Once approved, chefs gain access to DishCraft, our in-app tool where they: .List their dishes with photos, date & time, dorm location, servings, and price. .Students browsing the app can pre-book a meal they love. Serving Time At the designated time, chefs head down to the dorm lobby with aprons, gloves, and their meals. Students bring their own plate or lunchbox and get their food freshly plated by the chef, complete with garnishes and care. But DormDish isn’t just about food. It’s about connection. As students gather in the lobby, they meet, mingle, and bond over a shared meal. This creates a vibrant community—a new social tradition built around good food, creativity, and affordability.
